RV security tips

Many owners think their TRAILERS are equipped with adequate safety features -- but that may not always be the case.  In this article, we will cover the reasons why you need to focus on improving RV safety and give you some tips to keep a safe environment wherever you go.

There are a few things you can do to help prevent your RV from being broken into or stolen.

1. Use a hitch lock or wheel chock to secure your RV when it’s parked.

2. Don’t leave valuables in plain sight – keep them out of sight and/or locked up.

3. Install motion-sensor lights around your RV to deter would-be thieves.

4. Get to know your neighbors when you’re staying at an RV park or campground – they can keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

5. When traveling, vary your route and schedule to throw off anyone who might be following you.

6. Keep an eye out for any unusual activity or people hanging around RVs in parking lots or rest stops.

7. If you think someone is following you, don’t go to your RV – go to a safe place and call the police.

8. Make sure your RV insurance policy covers theft – many policies have limited coverage or exclude theft altogether.

9. Consider installing a security system in your RV, especially if you travel frequently or leave your RV unattended for long periods of time.

10. Check with your local law enforcement agency to see if they offer any programs or advice specific to RV security.

If you follow these tips, you can help deter thieves and keep your RV safe. Remember, just because your RV is parked in a secure location doesn’t mean it can’t be targeted by criminals. By taking some simple precautions, you can help protect your investment and ensure peace of mind on the road.
